Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search
A name, place, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates the tool. Carter County Recent Arrests does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s policy governs its handling of the query.
Messages Sent to Us
When you send an email or contact submission, we retain the message and contact details needed to reply. We do not share that material outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Ordinary web systems may record technical and usage information when a page loads, including:
- Your Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device category and operating system.
- Pages visited and time spent on them.
- The referring page or site, when supplied.
- The date and time of the request.
Cookie Use
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. You can restrict or block cookies through browser controls, although some functions may then work differently.
Reasons We Use Data
- Operate the site and maintain reasonable performance.
- Send a search request to the chosen partner service.
- Understand which Carter County pages visitors find useful.
- Diagnose errors and other technical problems.
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests.
Privacy Beyond This Site
Links may lead to the Carter County Sheriff, Missouri courts, the Department of Corrections, federal locators, news sources, and third-party search services. Once you leave, the destination’s privacy terms control its collection and use of data.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select interest-based ads. That tracking occurs under those companies’ practices, not as a Carter County government function.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be handled by:
- Search partners that process submitted queries.
- Analytics providers that measure site use.
- Advertising networks that deliver or assess ads.
- Law-enforcement or government authorities acting under a valid legal order.
How Information Is Protected
We use standard, reasonable safeguards for information under our control. No website, network, or storage system can be promised as fully secure or immune from unauthorized access.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the information we actually hold, you may:
- Ask for a copy of your personal data.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Ask that eligible information be erased.
- Object to or opt out of certain processing.
Missouri public records held by an agency are governed separately, including by RSMo §610.100 and other Sunshine Law provisions. A request made here cannot alter a Carter County Sheriff or court record.

We may revise this privacy notice as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version takes effect when posted here with a new effective date.
